Nintendo has released a dedicated Nintendo Store app for iPadOS, iOS, and Android devices.

The app, which is only somewhat optimized for iPad, lets you buy Nintendo products, get news updates, receive notifications about sales, and, most interestingly, view your play activity.

iPad Compatibility

Before I dig into what this does, I’ll point out for iPad users that this is a portrait-only app, which really should be a crime in 2025. It also doesn’t support resizing in any way, shape, or form. Now, iPadOS 26 arguably helps a little here with its windowing system. You can use the app in landscape, but since the app doesn’t officially support it, everything becomes difficult to see and interact with.

As far as actual compatibility, the Nintendo Store app runs on iPads or iPhones with iPadOS/iOS 16 or later, and Android devices running Android 10 or later.

App Functions

The app has four tabs, alongside a home/dashboard tab, for navigation:

Search – Lets you search for hardware or games. The app provides screenshots and product information, but pushes you to a webview if you actually want to make a purchase.

News – A hub for game news, events, and other social content like “Ask the Developer.”

Wish List – Any games you’ve saved to your Wish List on your console appear here. Again, purchases redirect you to a webview.

User Page – Most of your account-level information is here (payment methods, purchase history, etc.), though viewing nearly anything still throws you into a webview. One of the few native screens in the app is for viewing your Play Activity. This is something you typically have to view on the console itself. Interestingly, it even breaks down your individual play sessions. I’m not sure why I’d need that level of granularity, but it’s there anyway.

The Nintendo Store app can be downloaded for free from the App Store or Google Play Store. Some features required you to sign in with your Nintendo account.
