Apple has released the fifth developer beta and third public beta release of iPadOS 27. This release brings the usual grab bag of small improvements as we continue the march toward the final version in the fall.
Here’s what’s new on iPad in these releases.
Hover Effect On Traffic Light Icons

If you hover over one of the individual traffic light buttons on a window using a mouse or Apple Pencil, it now shows a slight hover effect. For Apple Pencil users, you’ll only see this if your device supports Apple Pencil Hover.
Updated App Icons

Most of the app icons have seen minor updates and adjustments in iPadOS 27, and in beta 5/public beta three, Safari, Preview, Siri, Settings, and Remote see noticeable visual updates.
TIL that the previous Siri app icon was supposed to be the Siri orb UI.
Siri Orb Gets Less Colorful

Speaking of the Siri UI, the Orb itself appears less saturated and colorful in this beta.
Updated Battery Icon

For those of you who like to see the current battery percentage on your iPad, this beta brings the iPhone version of the battery icon to iPad. This version shows the percentage in the battery icon itself, instead of next to it.
View Installation Date of Last Software Update

Navigate to General > Software Update > More Details to not only see details about the most recent update, but also the date this update was installed.
Siri Voice Customization Expands

Siri Voice Customization expands in this beta to now include all English and British Siri voices. Previously, this was limited to a couple of voice options.
