Castro, the popular third-party podcast app built around a queue-based listening experience, is now available with full support for iPadOS.

Unlike traditional podcast players, Castro organizes your episodes with an “Inbox + Queue” model. New episodes land in your Inbox, and from there you can decide what goes into your Queue, what gets archived, and what’s worth skipping. It’s a workflow that feels closer to managing email than playlists.

Version 2025.8 brings a proper iPad layout, with full support for Split View and Slide Over multitasking. (Though I suppose that support won’t matter once iPadOS 26 launches this fall with freeform windowing across all iPads.)

This update also adds long-awaited device syncing for Castro Plus subscribers, powered by iCloud Keychain. Now your Inbox, Queue, listening history, and even your app settings can stay in sync between iPhone and iPad.

Castro is free to use and the core functionality, Inbox, Queue, episode search, and downloads, is included in the free tier. The Castro Plus subscription adds features like:
