Apple has released the second developer beta of the much-anticipated iPadOS 18.4 release. Coming two weeks after the release of developer beta 1, there are still no signs of updated Siri functionality, which is now rumored to be pushed back to iPadOS 18.5.

Priority Notification Customization

Priority Notifications, previously released in developer beta 1, can now be enabled per app. In the previous beta, this was an all-or-nothing setting.

New Emoji

iPadOS 18.4 adds seven new emoji, in accordance with yearly updates to the Emoji unicode standard. The new emoji are a face with bags under its eyes, a splat, a harp, a fingerprint, a root vegetable, a shovel, and a tree without leaves.

Apple Intelligence Control Center Toggles

The Siri section in Control Center has been renamed “Apple Intelligence & Siri”. In addition to the existing “Type To Siri” option, developer beta 2 adds a new “Talk to Siri” option.

Minor Tweaks

App Store Updates can now be paused.

Shortcuts adds a number of new actions across multiple Apple apps. These new options appear to focus on controlling app settings, and are believed to be intended for the upcoming Siri update, which aims to enhance Siri’s ability to interact with your apps.

iPadOS 18.4 is expected to be released in April.
