Today, Apple released two small updates for iPad users: iPadOS 27.0.1 and iPadOS 26.7.1.

There’s not much detail about iPadOS 27.0.1, with the release notes simply stating: “This update provides bug fixes for your iPad.”

OK then.

iPadOS 26.7.1 fixes a vulnerability in Apple’s CoreGraphics framework that has presumably already been addressed in iPadOS 27. According to Apple’s security updates page, the vulnerability is an out-of-bounds write that could let a maliciously crafted file trigger arbitrary code execution.

Apple says it is aware of a report that the issue may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals on versions of iOS before iOS 27.

This update should be available for iPad users who can’t update to iPadOS 27, and those who choose not to, as Apple is not yet forcing eligible devices to iPadOS 27 (which usually comes with the first major point release).
