The first developer beta of iPadOS 18.5 is now available for registered Apple developers. This comes days after the public release of iPadOS 18.4, which brought new features and security improvements to Apple’s tablet OS.

It’s not uncommon for the .5 release of an operating system to not have many, if any, new features. At this point of the year, Apple’s development resources are more focused on this year’s slate of software updates ahead of WWDC.
Here’s what’s new in beta 1:
Mail Interface Tweak:
In the Mail app, the popover for enabling or disabling the new categorization feature now has options to disable contact photos in the message list as well as disable the Apple Intelligence priority feature. Accessing these options in previous releases would require a trip to the Settings app.

Annnndddd…that’s all! I’ll update this post if I find more as I continue using the betas.
