In July of 2025, the organization behind the open-source 3D creation app Blender announced they would be working on a version of their popular 3D creation software for iPadOS.

I was checking in on the a month or so ago, and noticed there was a comment on the project page stating that the iPad project was on hold, and that Android tablets were going to be the priority going forward.

One of the project members, Dalai Felinto, responded to comments citing the reason for this status change being a lack of funding to pursue this effort in 2026. The project team intends to come back to the iPadOS version of Blender at some point, bringing with them the lessons they’ve learned from building the Android version.
While not the greatest news for iPad users, at least the project hasn’t been shut down, and 3D artists can still look forward to an iPad version of Blender, one day.
Development on the Android version of Blender will apparently start this year. I hope my Pixel Tablet isn’t too underpowered to handle it 🤔.
