Apple has released iPadOS 26.2 developer beta 3 about a week after beta 2. This update is still expected to ship in December, so it makes sense that we’re now getting to the point of weekly beta releases.
Here’s what’s new in Beta 3 for iPadOS 26 users.
Drag & Drop Multitasking Returns
As if they read my M5 iPad Pro review, Apple has addressed a major complaint about multitasking in iPadOS 26. For those of us who use the iPad as a tablet, getting in and out of Split View and the newly re-added Slide Over has required more steps than it did in iPadOS 18. This has contributed to the feeling that Apple was catering more to the “laptop replacement” crowd than actual tablet users.
Beta 3 addresses this by restoring drag-and-drop support for both Split View and Slide Over. As before, this works when dragging from the Dock, Spotlight, or the App Library.
This now exists alongside the traffic-light-style windowing and tiling options, and is only available when using Windowed Apps Mode or Stage Manager.
AirDrop One-Time Codes

It’s being reported that Apple is adding temporary AirDrop sharing with unknown contacts via a one-time code. I don’t know how to trigger this yet to test it myself, but some explainer text in the Settings app seems to confirm this is — or will soon be — a feature.
