About a week after the first public release of iPadOS 26, Apple has released the first developer beta iPadOS 26.1.

Unlike last year, when we knew we had a bunch of features announced at WWDC that we were waiting for, its unknown what, new features to expecting in the coming iPadOS 26 point releases.

One of the things I do expect to see is a further refinement of Liquid Glass. Design, like software, is never really done, and Apple will continue to process and respond to user feedback to the new designs.

Here’s what’s new so far:

Music App

In the Music app, there’s a fun little shortcut for switching between songs. You can just swipe on the Now Playing bar to switch to the next or previous song.

Photos App

When watching a video in the Photos app, the design of the scrubber control has been updated from the original iPadOS 26 release.

Phone App

The dial pad in our fancy new Phone app has been updated to seemingly use Liquid Glass. The glass effect on the buttons is easier if you interact with the dial pad in dark mode. There’s also a new bounce animation as you tap the individual buttons.

Safari

The Download Manager has been redesigned to display itself in the center of the screen, for some reason.
