Google’s iOS app for its Gemini LLM has been updated today to feature a dedicated iPad interface. Previously, iPad users were forced to use the iOS app in iPhone compatibility mode or resort to the web version.
The Gemini app offers the iPad features you’d expect from a modern native iPad app, including support for screen rotation, Split View, and Slide Over. Stage Manager support is also included. While screen rotation shouldn’t need to be explicitly mentioned as a supported feature, an update to the Microsoft Copilot app a few months ago locked it into portrait mode on iPad. I immediately cancelled my subscription.
On top of iPadOS support, version 1.2025.1770102 of the Gemini app includes a new home screen widget and as well as the option to connect the app to your Google Photos library.
Release Notes:
- Gemini now has a full-screen, optimized iPad app
- Gemini can now be added as a homescreen widget
- Gemini can now connect with your Google Photos library
- Ul improvements and bug fixes
The Gemini app can be downloaded from the App Store.
