iPadOS 18.2 Beta 2 and Public Beta 1 are now available with small enhancements across the system.
Live Activity for Safari Downloads

Downloading files in Safari will now trigger a live activity on your lock screen, which allows you to easily keep track of progress.
“Create Image” option in Notes for Image Playground

In my video for Beta 1, I went over the ways you can use Image Playground in iPadOS. Beta 2 adds an additional enhancement by letting you use text you select in a Note as the prompt for a custom image.
ChatGPT Details In Settings

The ChatGPT section that was introduced in Beta 1 has been upgraded with some additional options and details.
There is now visibility into how many “advanced” requests you have left from ChatGPT. If you’re a free user, your limits on how often you can use things like image generation are lower than paid users. This gives you a way to see your remaining request budget for the day.
You also have the option to sign up for ChatGPT Plus, right from Settings, if you wish. If you choose to do this, it is noted that you will need to create an account and your data will be subject to OpenAI’s privacy policy.
Sharing Item Locations From Find My

In the Find My app, you can now share the location of a lost item with others via a link. The idea behind this seems to be that if you lost something like your luggage while you’re traveling, and you want to share the item’s location with the airline to help you physically locate it, this is a relatively straightforward way to do that.
If you select the item in Find My, scroll down and you’ll find a new Share Location option. Following the prompts will generate a shareable link that will open either in the Find My app or the web on a non-Apple device. You can share that link from the share sheet.
By default, the link is active for 7 days, but you can go back into Find My and disable sharing if you find the item before the link expires. Anyone that has been able to view your item will no longer be able to.
Icon Tint Now Mirrored In Settings

App icon styling is now mirrored in Settings. If you have light or dark mode icons on your home screen, you will have the same style icons in the Settings app. This also includes tinted icons, if you’re using those.
