Apple today seeded the third developer beta of iPadOS 18.3, which includes enhanced Apple Intelligence features and improvements.

Expanded Notification Summaries

In the first couple of betas, the Notification Summary feature that, well, summarizes multiple notifications, only worked in the Messages and Mail apps. With Beta 3, this feature has been expanded to work with all apps that send notifications. Supposedly. So far, I’ve only seen the expansion with Apple Wallet notifications, but not for LinkedIn. Perhaps this will improve over time on this beta.

Clean Up Tool in Photos App

The biggest new edition in this beta is the Clean Up tool in the Photos app. Similar to Magic Eraser tool in Google Photos, this feature helps you remove unwanted background objects (or people) from an image.

While intended to be used with touch, I’m enjoying using it with the Apple Pencil. The results are mixed depending on how complex the photo is and how many objects are nearby, but it’s a promising start to a feature that will improve over time.

Interestingly, applying the Clean Up effect on a face blurs it out like it’s a Street View image.
