This charging stand has been advertised to me on YouTube the past week or so. It caught my attention because it looks like it’s actually utilizing the Smart Connector for charging, which is incredibly rare. Last we heard, even if Apple was granting a company access to Smart Connector components, they are very slow in delivering.
This stand is from a company called KUXIU, that I’ve never heard of, but has apparently been making MagSafe charging stands and other accessories for years now. The KUXIU X33 Pro MAX iPad Magnetic Charging Stand is currently available at $99 for both sizes of iPad Pro, and is available from the company’s website or Amazon. They also have stands that support the rest of the iPad lineup. KUXIU doesn’t appear to be MFi certified, but perhaps that’s less of a problem if they are only using the Smart Connector for power and not data.
I’m going to wait for some reviews before I drop that much money on an unknown (to me) company, but I hope other accessory makers are taking note. A good iPad/tablet desk stand really elevates (no pun intended) the entire experience.
