Apple has released iPadOS 18.6.2 for all eligible iPads. According to the release notes, this is a security-only update, which usually indicates there’s at least one high-priority vulnerability that could be, or already is, actively exploited.
For iPads that cannot run iPadOS 18, Apple also released iPadOS 17.7.10 with the same security fix.
On its security updates page, Apple explains that this release addresses a single, actively exploited vulnerability in the ImageIO subsystem where an out-of-bounds write could cause memory corruption when processing a maliciously crafted image file. The company notes this issue may already have been used in targeted attacks against certain individuals.
While most users are unlikely to fall into the “targeted individuals” category, it’s strongly recommended to update as soon as possible. Applying security fixes quickly is always the best way to keep your devices protected.
