Two weeks after the release for iPadOS Beta 3, Apple has released the fourth developer beta of iPadOS 26. On an M1 iPad Pro, this release comes in at about 7 GB.

Developer beta 4 is expected to be either the exact build or the basis for the build for the iPadOS public beta, which is expected to be released this week. That assumes, of course, that there are no unexpected major issues discovered in beta 4.

Any changes or new features discovered in the beta will be reported below:

Notification Summaries for News Return

Notification summary options
You can now summarize notifications from News apps again.

Upon upgrading to beta 4, you’re presented with the notification summary setup screens again. This time, they reenable the option to summarize notifications from news apps.

If you recall, in iPadOS 18.3, Apple removed this feature due to the inaccuracy of the summaries that were generated. which was removed due to controversy back in iPadOS 18.3. There’s now a warning for this option that lets you know that the summaries could be inaccurate. Let’s hope this also comes with some improvements to Apple’s models for this feature.

Improvements To Liquid Glass…Again

Liquid Glass effect
The Glass effect gets glassier again.

Seemingly walking back some of the refinements in Beta 3, there are areas of Liquid Glass that are more transparent again. It’s easiest to spot in something like the Music or Podcasts app.

Updated Dynamic Wallpaper

Default Wallpaper – Dynamic Transitions

The default iPadOS 26 wallpaper adds a dynamic option that will cycle through different colors throughout the day as you unlock your iPad.

Silence Unknown Callers Options

New unknown caller filter options

The Screen Unknown Callers setting in the Phone app gets expanded in beta 4 with some additional options.

Never – Allows all unsaved numbers to ring you.

Ask Reason For Calling – Prompt the caller to provide more information before ringing you.

Silence – Sends all unknown numbers straight to voicemail without ringing you.
