VR gamers got a bit of a surprise during the first day of Summer Game Fest, with the surprise announcement of Marvel’s Deadpool VR, a brand-new virtual reality game coming exclusively to Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S headsets later this year.

I played Deadpool for PS3 back in the day (before the character reached mainstream popularity) and really enjoyed it. The announcement trailer looks and feels a lot like that game, just in VR.
What’s Deadpool VR About?
In an original story, Deadpool has being transported to Mojoworld and signs a contract with its owner, X-Men villain Mojo, to fight a variety of different enemies across various Marvel universe locations. Some of the bosses he’ll supposedly be encountering include Lady Deathstrike and Omega Red (I’ve always loved his design).

The game is co-developed by Twisted Pixel and Oculus Studios, and will be exclusive to Meta’s latest headsets. Meta is likely fronting most of the development costs, so we’re unlikely to see the game make it to any other VR/AR platforms. That sucks for Vision Pro owners with our relative lack of VR games, but it’s not like Apple has been making gaming on visionOS a big priority (Hopefully that changes in a couple of days at WWDC 😁).
Deadpool is voiced by Neil Patrick Harris, doing a very convincing Ryan Reynolds impression. And much like the movies, this game is intended for mature audiences due to, y’know, all of the profanity and blood.

Release Details
There’s no official release date as of now, but the game is slated for release in late 2025. Pricing is also unknown, but the game will be available for purchase from the Meta Store.
