Delta emulator app icon

Delta has been the most popular game emulator in the App Store since its release a few months ago. I haven’t given it much thought, as I’m more interested in new games vs. replaying old games. However, it’s been fun to see how much people have enjoyed having “official” access to emulators on iOS.

Version 1.6 of Delta is making me stand up and take notice. When so many developers are phoning in iPad support, developer Riley Testut went the extra mile. The iPad version of this popular emulator includes:

  • Full screen support for iPad
  • iPad designed controller skins
  • Handoff support between iPad and iPhone

But the one that caught my attention
  • Supports multiple windows in Stage Manager and Split View

I’m not sure how practical it is to have multiple games open at one time, but kudos to the dev for embracing the iPad’s unique features and capabilities.

At the time of this post, Apple has rejected this update for the App Store for….reasons (App Review being App Review).

Mastodon post announcing Apple rejecting the 1.6 update for Delta.

Hopefully it won’t be long before those of us outside of the EU can enjoy this update.
