With visionOS 26, Apple Vision Pro gains support for VR game controllers, specifically Sony’s PlayStation VR2 Sense Controllers. Apple will be selling these controllers as a standalone purchase for $250 USD.
However, thanks to the lack of success of the PS VR2, savvy shoppers may consider looking for a used or refurbished PS VR2 instead. The used bundle I just picked up was about $280, for example.
Keep in mind, if you go that route, PS VR2 requires a Playstation 5 or Playstation 5 Pro to function. It is not a standalone unit in the same way the Vision Pro is.

However you choose to obtain the controllers, here’s how to pair, use, and then re-pair them with your PS5 when you’re done.
What You’ll Need
- Apple Vision Pro running visionOS 26 or later
- Both PS VR2 Sense controllers
- Bluetooth enabled on your Vision Pro
Step-by-Step: Pairing with Apple Vision Pro
- Start with the Bluetooth Settings panel open on the Vision Pro. Go to Settings → Bluetooth.

- Put each of the controllers into Pairing mode.
Left controller: hold PS + Create buttons about five seconds until the light on the back of the controller flashes.
Right controller: hold PS and Options buttons about five seconds until the light on the back of the controller flashes.

- Each controller should show up in the Bluetooth menu. Tap on each entry to pair the respective controller.
- Wait for each controller to appear in the list, then tap to pair.

What Can You Do With the Sense Controllers?

Even though the Sense controllers are designed for gaming, they can be used to navigate visionOS. The thumbsticks can be used for scrolling lists and the rear L2 and R2 buttons can be used for selection and dragging windows.
You’re still better off connecting a mouse or trackpad for general navigation, but these will work in a pinch.
Reconnecting the Controllers to the PS5
If you opted to buy the PS VR2 instead of just the controllers, you’re going to want to move them between devices. Here’s how to reconnect back to the PS5.
- Make sure your PS5 console is on.
- Connect one of the Sense controllers via USB and press the PS button on the controller.
- Follow any on-screen instructions to pair.
- Repeat the same steps for the other Sense controller.
- Unplug the cable, and the controllers are connect wirelessly again.
In my limited testing, sometimes re-pairing the controllers with the Vision Pro after the initial pairing required forgetting them from the Bluetooth Settings menu.
