Announced today on Remedy Entertainment’s BlueSky account, the Ultimate Edition of Control will be coming to iPad, iPhone, and even Apple Vision Pro in 2026.

Control Ultimate Edition

Control is something of a modern-day gaming classic. It follows special agent Jesse Faden, who arrives at the mysterious Federal Bureau of Control, a secret government agency investigating paranormal phenomena. After a supernatural force called the Hiss invades its shifting headquarters, the Oldest House, Faden must reclaim control of the building and uncover the truth about her own past. Oh, and she has telekinetic powers and a shape-shifting gun.

It’s a game I’ve started several times before remembering it has horror vibes, and I hate everything horror. Regardless, it’s always looked amazing every time I’ve tried it.

The social media post notes that you’ll be able to play using a connected game controller or with touch controls.

It’s unclear if the Vision Pro is getting a native visionOS port or if it’ll be leveraging iPadOS compatibility mode to run the iPad version, which actually works well enough for some games. A native port would be able to take advantage of the forthcoming PSVR2 Sense Controller support.

Even though Control is a six-year-old game, and Control 2 is in active development, it’s interesting to see Remedy go through with a port to Apple devices (beyond the Mac version that already exists). There’s been speculation for a while now that high-end console or PC games aren’t selling well on iPhone and iPad.

Given that ray tracing support was a hallmark feature of the Ultimate Edition on consoles, it’s likely that the supported device list will look similar to other high-end games that have been ported to iPadOS. That means Remedy will likely be targeting devices with an M-series chip on the iPad side and iPhones with Pro chips.

There’s currently no release date beyond 2026.
