Version 7.13.0 of Microsoft Teams for iPadOS was released this past week with a couple of notable new features. One new feature is that Copilot can be used summarize Channel Meetings, which is probably a good thing 🤷♂️.
Of more interest to iPad users is that Teams now lets you open Chats and Channels in separate windows. This will work with Split View multitasking, but will really shine when used with Stage Manager, making the iPadOS version feel a bit more like the Mac version.
When you tap on a Channel or Chat in the side bar, the “Open In New Window” option will appear in either the overflow (…) menu, or you can use the diagonal arrow button.

Why This Matters
Why bother writing an entire post about such a small feature? Well, these seemingly small improvements are the ones that remove friction that often exists in the iPadOS version of an app versus its laptop OS version. Multi-window, especially, is woefully underused by developers on iPadOS. Hopefully, that changes as freeform multi-windowing becomes available on all iPads with iPadOS 26 this fall.
