The Apple Pencil Pro introduced a number of improvements over the previous generation Apple Pencil 2. One of the big ones is support for Apple’s Find My network. This is a great addition because even though the Apple Pencil can attach magnetically to an iPad, it is still incredibly easy to lose in a bag or in the couch cushions.

Here’s how you get it setup with Find My:

Note: The Apple Pencil Pro is compatible with:

  • iPad Pro (M4)
  • iPad Air (M2, M3)
  • iPad Mini (A17 Pro)

To start, open the Find My App. The Apple Pencil Pro gets added under the “Devices” section. Tap the + button at the top of the list.

Tap “Add Apple Pencil”.

That’s it! Your Apple Pencil Pro should now be added to Find My! I’ll note that the first time I connected my Pencil, the process errored out several times, so if you’re running into issues, just keep repeating the same steps and it should eventually work.
